DESIGN V

Under the guidance of Proff. Orla Smyth-LoPiccolo, Architectual Design V had us undertook the design of more complicated buildings and projects while studying their environment, use, history in the area they were located in. Both projects involved the same area, but different purposes, as seen below. The first we had to design on our own, while the second involved a partner. There is also the inclusion of an in-depth ethics study to test us on our own sense of morals and how well we can recognize ethical situations and how to handle them accordingly.

Project 01: Long Island School of Music

A project where we choose what sort of building, we would design on our own, project .01 revolved around designing a suitable theatre/ school in the town of Farmingdale capable of hosting a show inside and out

Project 02: Mixed use Development Project

With a partner, we were tasked with designing a multi use development involving the creation of a set of building meant for both residential and commercial purposes. This was located in the heart of the business district of the town of Bayshore, so context and postion is key

Ethic's Project

Research into the basics of using ethical decision making in a professional manner had us study the rules of AIA ethical guidance and the morals that come with being in a profession that involves creating important structures. We were tasked with studying ethical cases in Architecture and Construction industry and explain why or how these cases were important and what lessons they could teach.
